Living the Adventuress Life: Fun New Travel Apps, Ecuador Retirement Books & more!
September 02, 2015
|Dear VIA (Very Important Adventuress)
Welcome to another edition of Living the Adventuress Life, the e-zine from adventuress-travel-magazine.com
5 Fun New Travel AppsYou do have a smartphone, right? If not, you need one in order to take full advantage of all the cool stuff out there to make travel easier and stress-free.
There are a lot of new apps out there that focus on services.
Here are 5 favorites:
1 - FOODSPOTTING This is a restaurant app with a neat feature. Instead of rating restaurants as a whole, people review individual dishes. Great if you have a food allergy, are vegetarian, or just want to know “what’s in it”? There are lots of pix and you can even browse by type of dish if you fancy something specific. CLICK HERE to learn more and download the app.
2 - EMERGENCY PHONE NUMBERS This app gives you a comprehensive list of emergency telephone numbers around the world. You can make a call from within the app and it displays your location so you can tell first responders where you are. CLICK HERE to download it now.
3 - ONAVO EXTEND This app cuts down your mobile data usage while you travel so you can avoid huge roaming charges. Once installed, it works in the background to find ways to save data. This includes only loading images when you scroll down to them, adjusting image quality based on your settings and providing stats on how much data is used by each app to identify any that are sapping your allowance. Onavo runs downloaded data through its own servers and compression technology, and switches itself off when you’re connected to wifi. CLICK HERE to download it now.
4 - TOUCHRETOUCH This app allows you to retouch images on your phone. While it does cost $1.99, it gives you a great way to “tidy up” your pix before you share them on Facebook, Instagram, etc. High-res images do occasionally crash the app but it saves your progress so you can reopen and start where you left off. CLICK HERE to buy it now.
5 - ZUSA Looking for a female doctor who speaks English? With this app you can find individual businesses based on different filters such as language, age, gender, LGBT, and even disability-friendly. The app also recognizes your location so it can show you relevant results that are nearby. This app is still in production and has not yet been fully released, so keep an eye out for it.
Our special thanks to the outdoor travel blog Atlas & Boots for sharing this new information on travel apps.
