Issue #039, January 10, 2015 - Why I don’t make New Year’s Resolutions

Dear VIA (Very Important Adventuress)

Why I don’t make New Year’s Resolutions

The way I see it, there is a natural progression to New Year’s resolutions:

1. Make the resolution, with all good intentions 2. Don’t keep the resolution, for one reason or another 3. Feel guilty and mentally beat up on myself

Since I don’t want to experience #3 I figure the way to do that is don’t do #1.

I find it much more satisfying and uplifting not to make resolutions, but to look back on the previous year and make a list of what I accomplished that I feel good about.

I’m not going to share my list for 2014 with you because I don’t want you to think I’m bragging in any way.

But looking at my list makes me feel good. It makes me think, if I did all that, just think what I can accomplish in the coming year! If I just keep doing what I’m doing, keep imagining and creating, why, miracles could happen!

I hope you’ll look back at 2014 and look at what you accomplished, what you survived, what you experienced and come to the same conclusions.

Give yourself a big pat on the back. You deserve it!

And phooey on New Year’s resolutions!

Feliz ano Nuevo and Happy New Year.
