Travel Checklist
book review

We look at the advice given in 'A Travel Checklist book review'.

Former Californians Keith and Tina Paul say they were “born with wanderlust in our veins.” Now retired in the Andean World Heritage city of Cuenca, Ecuador, they travel five to six months of the year.

Here, in their own words, is how this came about:

“Our big ‘ah-ha’ moment came while vacationing in Antigua, Guatemala, where we met some Americans living there. They called themselves ‘expats.’ Antigua is where we learned what an expat was and that you can live abroad in places that cost up to 80% less than the United States. Plus, living aboard is an adventure into itself. We immediately did the math, and ten months later, we were retired.”

After that trip, they researched retiring in foreign countries. They learned that by living abroad, people stretch their retirement dollars and get to experience a new and exciting lifestyle.

Today, after traveling in over 30 countries and all 50 states of the US, they’ve learned a thing or two about how to make travel work best for you.

They share it all in A Travel Checklist for the Most Important Things You Need to Know Before Traveling Domestically or Abroad

This book is full of useful info such as scanning your passport picture page and visa page and sending it to a friend or family member as back-up, how to maintain your normal diet on an airline flight, all about Priority Lounges, best day of the week to buy your airline ticket, and tips on staying in touch with family and friends using the latest technologies.

Loved their section on AirHelp, which was new to us. AirHelp serves the travel community and air passengers with up-to-date info regarding travelers’ rights.

If your flights are cancelled or delayed or overbooked you may be eligible for compensation, AirHelp will file a claim for you in return for a percentage of what they get you. You have nothing to lose. AirHelp can also help with lost or damaged luggage.

Keith and Tina also provide useful links to website sources for visas required by different countries.

Even if you are a seasoned traveler, you’ll find something new in this book. Countries, airlines, hotels, and transportation options are changing all the time. The internet and books like A Travel Checklist for the Most Important Things You Need to Know Before Traveling Domestically or Abroad  make it easy to stay up-to-date with current, helpful information.

Keith and Tina Paul

Keith and Tina Paul, lovers of travel and wine, knew from the beginning that they wanted to see the world. They’ve been together since they were 18, and together took their first trip abroad at 19. They believed in collecting memories and experiences, not things.

In 2016, they gave up successful careers and retired early. As a way to keep family and friends aware of their adventures, they started a blog, “Retire Early and Travel.” They love to help others, like themselves, who may want to retire early and travel.
